It’s all really happening. I have purchased my travel insurance, paid for at least 2 rooms in advance, the travel notices have been put on my credit and debit cards, and I have a printed non-refundable ticket for the fast train from Madrid to Barcelona. More importantly though, I just booked a night’s stay in a castle in Spain. No turning back! Now just to stay focused and keep checking off my To Do list…
I love exploring foreign lands and I am getting closer to heading to the Iberian Peninsula on my first trip to Europe, ever! My excitement level is on the rise as I’m officially in Spain this time 2 weeks from now!!! I am taking this trip alone, but each day I am adding friends, and networks of friends of friends to visit. I love talking to locals and meeting strangers, but it’s also nice to spend days getting to know someone and seeing their personal view of the world around them. I enjoying having a travel buddy, but this trip came about very quickly. I was feeling bored with the world around me and sad about an injury to my left hand that has been slowing me down since August 2018. I started looking online for some travel deals, and found some affordable options to Spain and Australia! I plans to go to Texas with my family in August, so I didn’t want to go all the way to the South Pacific for just a couple of months. That left Spain as the clear winner for my next exotic destination. Plus, I have this goal in life to visit every Spanish speaking nation in the world, and working toward your goals in life is definitely a good thing!
The flights were booked with Delta Sky Miles that were earned with travel and through purchases with my Delta American Express plus around $50 in fees and taxes. I will have a few days in NYC on either side of my flights in and out of Madrid. The flights between NYC and Madrid are direct, and should take a little over 7 hours.
Please follow along as I make plans, wing it while living in the moment, and meet new friends along the way…
“When life itself seems lunatic, who knows where madness lies? Perhaps to be too practical is madness. To surrender dreams — this may be madness. Too much sanity may be madness — and maddest of all: to see life as it is, and not as it should be!”
― Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra, Don Quixote
